I was recommended Casa Do Caminho by a Peruvian friend who spent a month studying here when he first arrived in Rio. He said it was the best language school he had found and was also great value for money, something I agree with having spent two weeks here so far. The school has been very accommodating to my needs and busy schedule and has been very supportive during my stay here. I also feel happy that the money going into the school is put towards a fantastic project working with orphans – I think this is a great initiative.

I am from China. I spoke no Portuguese before I came to Rio. The 3 months of Portuguese class in casado caminho helps me a lot. Casa do caminho has the best fee among all the language centers in Rio and this does not affect its teaching quality. The people there are very friendly and helpful. They also provides lots of info. on accomadation and recommandations of good places in Rio. Most important, Casa do caminho is an orphanage, all the profit goes for the supporting of over 60 homeless children. And if you would like to make friends from all over the world, it is the best choice.

Oi gente! I chose to study at Casa do Caminho Language Centre to support a good cause while studying the language. Students at this school come from all over the world and have different language backgrounds. I am originaly from Honduras and having Spanish as my native language made it easier for me to understand Portuguese. My teacher was able to adjust class lessons to make it interesting for both Spanish and non-Spanish speakers. In class I learnt not only verb-tense conjugations and conjunctions, but also jargon, idiomatic expressions, pronunciation, and false cognates. She made the class fun and entertaining with use of videos, songs and games.
The school has a great location and after class it is easy to get together with classmates to have lunch or have caipis at the beach. The teachers being 100% Cariocas are always up to date with what is going on in Cidade Maravilhosa and can always recommend places to go to.
I also had the opportunity to volunteer at the centre. I would recommend students to look in the volunteer section of the website for information on volunteer opportunities!
Até mais!

What I like most about the school is the fact that it is quite international. I meet people from all continents, for example I was in a classroom with Australians, Germans, Dutch people, Columbians...The program is really international and you get to meet nice people.
The students here are pretty young and another great aspect is the price! I was actually expecting that the quality would be a bit lower due to the low price so I was already preparing to study a lot at home, but when I got here I found that the quality was excellent.
From what I understand, the school is run by volunteers and that is why the courses are so inexpensive. Furthermore, everything I pay goes to a good cause. In other words, it is a win-win situation:
I learn Portuguese and the children benefit from my tuition fee!
