Age: 32 Occupation: Jewellery Designer & Buyer Previous work history and schooling: Monash University in Melbourne (Bachelor of Tourism & Bachelor of Communications. Major in Advertising). My last job was working as a Jewellery Designer & Buyer for a company called DCK (Lovisa & Diva stores around Australia). Interests: Fashion, music, jewellery, languages, travelling, cooking, positive energy. Favourite Colour: Yellow - the colour of happiness! Favourite Food: Homemade pasta with fresh tomato and basil sauce. What made you apply for the position of Volunteer at CDC?: I had been to Brasil 2 years ago and loved it. I resigned from my job and wanted to do some Volunteer work to help people. I came across the Casa Do Caminho website and fell in love with the organisation. I am proud to be a part of it and proud to be helping the children from the Orphanage. Best Experience so far at Casa Do Caminho: So many wonderful experiences! I would say that being able to help at our Festa Do Trabalho days (like a big 'working bee') and interacting with the children is always special and amazing. At The Casa Do Caminho Language Centre, I would say that meeting students who want to help and participate with activities in The Orphanage is always wonderful. We have a lot of students who bring in donations of clothing or money and have a very generous and philanthropic nature about them. Best Experience of Brasil so far: Organising Pascoa Da Paz (Easter of Peace) with Angelo Campos from Complexo Alemao (Penha). Myself, Angelo (from the favela), Sean Gardiner and Luccas Pessoa organised an event to bring happiness to the children of Complexo Alemao (Penha). We raised a lot of money and organised activities in this recently 'pacified' favela so that the children would have a great Easter. There was a great turn out of people with 2 bus loads of friends and family wanting to help and everyone in the community came. We had face painting, music, gifts for the children, a giant trampoline, a 'Dream Competition,' a huge Easter cake and many other activities. The children are still talking about it today and it was an Easter I'll never forget!
Funny Experience: Many funny experiences in the Casa Do Caminho Volunteer share house. We laugh every day and are constantly playing tricks on eachother or getting up to cheeky things (Like taping up and covering the openings of Tanja's bottom bunk bed with plastic bags so she would have trouble getting in after a big night out!

What made you apply for the position of Volunteer at CDC? Well… The good question will be « Why not ?! » CdC is an amazing organization that help children with serious issues and stories. Volunteering here is the best opportunity I had so far. Best Experience so far at Casa Do Caminho: I climbed Pedra de Gaeva with the team and saw the most beautifull view ever ! I was literally speechless… But my best memory is something simple : I love when I haven’t seen the kids for a little while and when they see me they smile and they let the others know I just arrived.
